Groundhog Day

Groundhog Day
Imaginative stories about a curious rodent and the holiday named after him.

By Jamie McElroy
Every year on February the second a groundhog is said to be able to predict if winter will last for another six weeks or if spring is on the way. If the groundhog does not see its shadow it will venture out of the burrow and spring will come soon, however if it sees its shadow it will be frightened and run back to the safety of its home meaning winter will last another six weeks. Books are a great way to share this fun tradition with children.
